An appeal is only filed if the citizen is dissatisfied with the PIO's response or when the PIO rejects the citizen's request for information. This means that an RTI request is simply an application process, whereas an RTI appeal is an appellate mechanism for deciding on an RTI application.
Steps to file the RTI First Appeal
To submit the initial appeal application, select the ‘submit first appeal' option. When you click, the screen 'rules for usage of RTI online portal' will appear. The screen offers all instructions for using the RTI web portal.
Citizens must tick the box labelled 'I have read and understood the above rules' before clicking the submit button.
The citizen will see an online RTI first appeal form screen. The applicant must include their registration number, email address, and security code in the form.
Once you click the submit button, the online RTI initial appeal form will appear. The applicant can select the reason for filing the appeal application from the ‘cause for appeal' dropdown area.
The text for the RTI initial appeal application should be up to 3000 characters long.
